Anthropocene
What is the Anthropocene?
In terms of geological age, we are now in the Holocene epoch of the Cenozoic era in the Quaternary period. Recently, however, it has been suggested that we might be in an new geologic epoch because society and nature have changed dramatically.
The suggested new epoch is called the Anthropocene, because it is an era in which humans play a central role and affect nature significantly.
We must now take immediate measures to address environmental issues, reverse the burden on nature and move toward sustainable futures.
The Anthropocene can also become an era when humanity overcomes environmental problems.
