Course Summary
In this course, students of Doshisha University and engineers from Daikin cooperation work together to identify possible solutions for grand challenges that our society is facing today. Every year, the participants travel to a foreign country to gain hands-on experience on the local sustainability challenges.
In 2024, the participants visited Belgium.
In 2025, the participants visited Belgium and the Netherlands.

Theme: Climate actions and clean energy transition in the European Union – collaboration and co-creation toward carbon neutral society.
Destination: Belgium
Date of the field trip: 16-23 August
Date of the final seminar (presentations): 4 September
Students must attend both the field trip and the final seminar. In addition, the students are expected to submit a final report by mid. September.
Interested students should enrol both On-site Group Work and On-site Group Work Introduction. Successful completion of Onsite Group Work Introduction is compulsory to undertake the field trip in this course.
Information on the selection
Only 10 students can undertake this course. A selection in late April, which consists of document screening and interviews. Document screening will take place based on the information students submit during the guidance session on the 17th April (Fri). The students who are on the borderline will be contacted for the interview on the 24th.
If you wish to take this course, please attend the guidance session on the 17th and make sure to be available on the 24th, in case you are called for the interview.

Theme: Addressing sustainability challenges through interdisciplinary and participatory approach.
Destination: Europe
Time (duration): second half of August (one week, after Obon holiday)
Interested students should enrol both On-site Group Work and On-site Group Work Introduction. Details on the field program will be announced at the guidance session on the 16th April.

Theme: Collaboration and innovation for clean energy transition: connecting technology, society, and actions for a change toward carbon neutrality.
