GRM program overview
Global Resource Management (GRM) program offers graduate-level courses to all students enrolled in master or doctoral degree at Doshisha University. The variety of subjects are covered by the GRM program, which are intended to broaden students’ perspectives centered around the global resource issues and build capacity for managing them. In particular, the program focuses on fostering skills for interdisciplinary and international collaboration, which is much needed for solving complex problems in our society. Such skills will be valuable in many sectors of work and/or research related to societal problems.
GRM program completion
If you are a graduate student at Doshisha, you can take any courses in the GRM program. You can take just one or a few courses as you wish.
If you have strong interests in the GRM courses, you can enhance your learning by taking them in combination. If you take five courses, including three compulsory courses, you will be awarded for the GRM program completion. (In 2025, the following three courses are compulsory: On-site Group Work, On-site Group Work Introdution, and Seminar for Advanced Liberal Arts. Registration procedures
Registration to the GRM program courses can be done through DUET, just like other courses in Doshisha University.

- 1. Find the course that interests you. You can find the course overviews in the GRM program guide. Please also check the syllabus to understand the course aim, content, and schedule.
- 2. Consult your supervisor. It is strongly recommended to clarify how the course will enhance your research and/or future career.
- 3. Consult the administration office of your school (if appropriate). In most schools, there is a limit to the number of lectures that the students can take outside of their own school. Please check that you will not exceed the limit by taking a GRM course.
- 4. Register for the course using DUET during the registration period. The period varies from year to year. Registration dates for the GRM courses are the same as other courses in Doshisha. If you are in doubt, please check the dates with the administrative officer of your school.
